My Philosophy

Hello, my name is Dan Monahan and welcome to my website.

If you’ve been involved in a serious accident, I know you have hundreds of questions.

How will my medical bills get paid?

Am I entitled to wage loss benefits and who do I get them from?

What if I can’t go back to my old job?

Who is going to compensate me for all these losses?

I can answer those questions.  But one of most important decisions you’re ever going to make if you’ve been involved in a serious accident, is who is the right lawyer for my case.  And if you had to make that decision in the next 5 minutes, would you even know what questions to ask.

Many of those answers, and questions you should be asking are contained right here on this website.  I’ve found that after almost 30 years of practicing law and representing people like you there’s a lack of important information available in order to make these important decisions.

Ask yourself whether you can distinguish one lawyer from another from looking at a yellow page ad or seeing a television commercial.  Or maybe you’ve been solicited directly by a lawyer.

Over 35 years ago, about the same time I started thinking about becoming a lawyer, I worked during summer and winter vacations from college as a merchant seaman.  I went to sea on an oil tanker, sailing along the east coast and gulf of mexico and into the carribean to ports in Puerto Rico, Florida, Texas, Baltimore, and Alabama, working in the engine work, on deck cleaning oil tanks, pumping fuel, loading cargo and even in the mess room as a kitchen helper.

I know what’s it like to work in dangerous conditions or to be asked to perform dangerous tasks, risking your own health and safety.  Although thank God I never got hurt, there were plenty of times when it could have easily happened and I still might not yet know the risks to me from exposure to toxic chemicals and substances.

So if you’ve been seriously injured in an accident whether it’s at work or caused by someone else’s negligence, I can easily imagine what you’re going through.

For my entire legal career, I’ve been handling accident cases like yours.  I enjoy helping people in need and I like the process of putting your case together in the most favorable light and presenting it to a jury to obtain just compensation for all of your losses.

Unfortunately, I can’t take every case that comes to me.  These cases are vigorously fought by the insurance companies and their teams of lawyers.  I know.  I started out working for them right out of law school.  I know what they’re willing to do to prevent a payout of damages no matter how serious the injuries or how clear the negligence.  So I have to be equally prepared to meet that challenge.  That takes an enormous amount of time, effort and money.  Only certain cases justify such an investment.  Plus if I’m going to get the best possible recovery for my clients, I have to be prepared to do that.  I can’t do that if I take every case that comes into my office.  Some lawyers and law firms do, figuring that most cases settle. There are good lawyers out there who can handle these cases, and if you can’t find one, I can help you do that.  But small cases can take as much time as large cases and I don’t want to cheat any client out of the best possible representation.  Spending time on smaller cases robs me of the time needed to handle serious cases, and likewise, taking small cases and not being prepared to handle a volume of cases with a large staff of secretaries and paralegals, doesn’t do justice to the small case either.

If you decide that you and I can best work with each other, you will get my devoted attention to your case.  Take the time to read my materials, talk to me to ask the tough questions, and meet with me so that together we can decide if I’m the right lawyer for you and your case, and you’re the right client for my office.
