If an individual under the age of 18 is employed in violation of state laws relating to minors, the individual is entitled to receive an additional 50 percent of the compensation rate as additional compensation that must be paid by the employer and not the insurance company.

If the employer has proof that it possesses a legally issued employment certificate under the Child Labor Law or an age certificate for the minor issued by the school authorities, then it is presumed that the minor is legally employed.
