Diocese of Charlotte settles abuse case for $1M
According to the AP (5/7), the Diocese of Charlotte has agreed to settle in a sexual abuse case to the tune of $1 million. The man who brought the case alleged that a priest sexually abused him when he was an altar boy in 1999. After that, he claims, the Church proceeded to systematically cover up what had occurred. The priest who committed the abuse has since been sentenced to nearly eight years in prison after pleading guily to the abuse.
