Vatican seeks dismissal of Kentucky sex abuse case

According to the AP (3/30), the Vatican is pursuing a legal defense with the objective of preventing the Pope from having to answer attorneys’ questions under oath in Kentucky. Vatican lawyers will argue that the Pope enjoys immunity as a foreign head of state, that bishops are not Vatican employees, and that there is insufficient evidence of any sort of cover-up. The result of this argument will determine the extent of the liability the Vatican has towards victims of sexual abuse by priests.
