Vatican to seek dismissal of Kentucky abuse suit

The AP (5/16) has a story about the Vatican’s stance that it should not be liable for bishops who allow sexual abuse of children by priests to continue. The Vatican moved to dismiss a recent lawsuit in Kentucky on grounds that a Vatican document requiring secrecy in church trials for sex abuse cases was not equivalent to a cover-up. The Vatican is also planning to ague that bishops do not count as employees under the factorscourts use to determine whether employers are liable for the actions of their workers.
